Scared for life

Today, like most days, my cat brought something to my doorstep. Usually it's a slew of dead mice, but this time he brought this big, ugly snake. I'm always the only one in my family "brave" enough to go fetch our cat's gifts. It took until lifting it up to realize the snake wasn't dead. FML

animals do that because they like you. kind of like a " look what I did mommy" sort of thing

You save the snake's life! My hero! :p

That was a gift. Someone in your house hold is going to die. The cat knows it.

That snake is totally manipulating your cat for transportation. I would sit your cat down and have a heartfelt talk about picking your friends. After all, once that snake figures out how to climb stairs, he'll dump your cat and really hurt it's feelings. Spare your poor kitty the emotional trauma. Have the courage to speak up.

So? Snakes are pretty much completely harmless if you grab them around the neck and body. =p

O Quikwit, you are amazing. This made my day.

Delaware huh? That snake come outta tidbury creek? That place has tons of snakes & me and my friends have found a couple kittens running around there! Scary stuff!

Well least no one or animal got bit :)

And this is why people shouldn't allow their cats outdoors to room freely. If anyone is under the belief that their cat doesn't kill innocent animals for fun then they are seriously mistaken. Cats are an introduced, invasive species and animals here have no defences against them. Thousands of songbirds are killed every year by people who let their cats roam freely.

I am not at all under the impression that cats do not kill 'innocent' wildlife. We have five, and they go out at will sometimes staying out for days at a time. They catch and eat rodents, including the occasional small rabbit. Our dogs catch the big rabbits and groundhogs. Why would we allow this you might ask? For the same reason people have been keeping cats for generations: These are all pests that will invade your home if given the chance and wreck havoc on any food items in cabinets. The rabbits do not invade the home, but do eat garden vegetables. Basically, I do not care about mice. I want them to go away and the cats deliver this message for us. Putting a bell collar on them would of course defeat this purpose. And yes, one has even brought a couple of snakes home.
