Anyone saying "you deserve it" is far from accurate. Yes, she's failing of her own will, but school doesn't teach you the skills you need in the real world. A decent amount of proclaimed geniuses and millionaires never finished high school. Subsequently, it proves to reason that school isn't the factor. If the convention is relatively something they can make a profession out of and really have an interest in, then they should be focusing more on that.

i guess the punishment really is terrible, esp when you've been looking forward to it for weeks, but you've gotta admit you need to work on your studies so suffer a little and impress your mom for rewards next time :)

My parents gave up on me and school

Since when are you going to use anything you learn in school? it's pointless. You don't need a high school diploma to get a job, it only helps. I don't see what the big deal is here.

While I'd hate if I was told I wasn't allowed to go to one of my conventions that I paid for, I make sure my other responsibilities are taken care of.

They are doing this for you, you know that right? You can always go to a show another time. You'll thank them when in a couple of years you'll be doing your dream job, and half of the "cool" kids who didn't give an F about their education, are unemployed or doing some menial jobs no one else wants.
