Smoking involves harming your own body and causing harm/discomfort to people around you. The only benefits you gain from smoking you can easily gain from other sources, ones which don't involve harming other people. You still choose to smoke. I do nothing to harm other people, nor my own body. No matter what definition of immoral you're using, harming other people will fall under that definition. You harm other people, I don't. Therefore I AM 'holier than thou'. (And incidentally, the right do 'do what you want' doesn't apply when what you do inpedes other people's rights. Like the right to breathe unpoisoned air.)
i completely understand your situation, i recently have been caught smoking not once, but three times. And, fortunately for my health, unfortunately that I'm addicted already, Ive been forced to quit cold turkey. if i was you and was 16 (almost 17 or already 17) id tell my parents the truth and if they opposed it, so be it, you're old enough to make your own discussions. if i was younger (which i am) id go to a park or for a walk down a street you know no one goes down, and have ONE cigarette. i highly recommend you try to quit tho. i wish i didn't have to but i can barely run as it is and my lungs give out pretty easy, and honestly, do you wanna cough up mucus for the rest of your natural born life? :) NO, neither do i.
Haha.......do you now see why smoking is bad for you?
Wow boatiebanter, stop blowing shit out of proportion please. Cigarette smoke has been banned from almost all indoor places. Therefore there is no way for it to be concentrated enough for you to 'breathe poisoned air' Stop acting like a little bitch please and go away. You've yet to prove anything in all your rants. And yet I have proved that you're an asshole because you can see other people agreeing that you are indeed an asshole. Bye.
Glockjaw, you think you've proved something because other people agree with you? This is completely besides the point. I know this may be difficult for you to understand, but personal attacks have no effect on the validity of your position. Even though you and a few other people think boatie is an asshole, that does nothing to undermine her arguments against you. Besides, if a person has asthma or some other respiratory ailment, walking past a smoker on a crowded street is more than enough to cause some breathing trouble. Where I live, it's just not possible to avoid those who smoke when walking down the street. Maybe you live somewhere more suburban, or even rural, and there are fewer people on the streets so there is plenty of time and space for the smoke to diffuse away. However in a busy city centre where people are crowded together, a person walking along smoking is effectively blowing it in peoples' faces constantly.
@ 136 Your right to swing your fist ends where my nose begins If you want to pay people to kill you slowly and painfully, then that's your business. But if your stupidity has a negative effect on the people around you, then you should not be given freedom. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4fzTdjqvt0
If you were swimming in a river and I started pissing in it upstream from you, wouldn't you get upset? Obviously, the piss will be swept away downstream very quickly and diffuse rapidly, and probably isn't any worse than any of the other stuff in the river anyway, but I'm pretty sure most people would be upset. Or is that just 'the risk you take for swimming in a public river'?

That's what you get for smoking, nitwit. I hope you at least apologized to your poor neighbor.
YDI. I don't care if people smoke or not, just be responsible.
