Snafu

Today, while on my driving test, the guy told me to pull over and do a U-turn. A few minutes later, he asked me to do another one. After the test, he said I'd failed because the second U-turn was illegal, and I should have refused to comply. I didn't know they're even allowed do that. FML

Why would he let you take an illegal turn, or even suggest it in the first place? Sounds to me like someone has to reread their job description

They are completely allowed to deceive you to make you stumble. It's a test, not a lesson. YDI for not knowing the road rules

They aren't supposed to tell you to break any rules of the road. Your instructor is a t fault.

In Canada it's illegal for the tester to ask the driver todo anything illegal.

Depends on the tester. Seems so many are assholes. During my test, I was waiting at a round about and no one was indicating off, and i got beeped by the guy behind me. I was waiting for it to be "safe" to proceed. And the tester faulted me for that. Seems to be more important to just plough through and smash into another car than wait for it to be safe. Talk to someone in authority, or if you just have to do the test again, go to a different testing centre.

They're actually not supposed to do stuff like that. Report him.

They are absolutely not allowed to lie to you to test your denial, it used to be allowed, but recently has changed to not allowed

poor you. i've recently passed my test at second attempt, it's still fresh in my mind how dreadful 45 minutes it was each time.

That's a real dick move. When I passed my driving test, it was probably only because I was friendly with the tester. He said I 'maybe' should have yielded to a UPS truck, but passed me as long as I was careful in the future. I'm pretty sure smalltalk got me my license.
