Yes they are legally required to pay you. Just because someone says something that benefits them doesn’t make it true. Contact your labor board.
They are absolutely legally required to pay you. Talk to HR because managers often just make stuff up.
umm.. no
If you are in the USA. They are legally required to pay you for any work. Even without a contract or all of that. If you can show any work at all you did, they have to at least pay minimum wage. What they are trying to pull is bullshit. My ex had. company try that with him. He actually ended up with 3 time what they owed him and some fines. They could get into trouble for not filing proper paperwork for their employees also. Call the labor board, even call the unemployment office.
first, call a lawyer. There is bound to be somebody who will do some pro bono work or take pay after a settlement is reached. second, call your local labor Department, board, or whatever else it may be called where you're from. your employer is required by law to pay you for hours worked. if you for working you should have some sort of a time card somewhere. if nothing else, there is always security footage that should show when you arrived at work and when you left as well as you working throughout your shift. the last bit of advice that I have for you is quit. any employer that does this to someone after only a month working for them is not going to improve and will likely get worse with time, so just save yourself the hassle and aggravation and get the hell out of there.
Lawyer and labor board. You ARE owed that money.
what company was this?

Talk to the labor board at the very least and a lawyer if at all possible.
Get out now they are just going to keep screwing you over. If you do manage to get them to pay you i can almost guarantee that they will try to find a way to fire you and make it look like it was your fault.
