Today, it's my long-anticipated 21st birthday! Today also happens to be the first day of my period. I've spent the whole morning in the fetal position with agonizing cramps, reduced to tears, and whimpering while the painkiller refuses to kick in. Happy birthday! Love, my uterus. FML

Oh goodness, I've had my period (with crippling cramps and nausea) on my birthday pretty much every year since I got my period. It's hell. I know how you feel...it does suck. Oh and #3...I think she means the first day of THIS particular period.

All the people telling you to suck it up have OBVIOUSLY never experienced cramps like this. I feel awful for ya, I know exactly how you feel, I always get (literally) paralysing cramps in my stomach, back and legs and bad nausea. Poor you!!! Happy Birthday anyway, hopefully the rest of the week won't be a big flop!!!!

I have to disagree with Samsonite. It's not nature to be in that much pain. It's a severe condition called PMDD. Everyone saying that you need to suck it up needs to try dealing with it. It sucks ass. I know exactly how you feel girl. I have it too. I hope things get better for you.

pmdd is something completely different, it's like a horrible version of pms. it is more likely pid(pelvic inflammatory disease).

I've had that happen before, about two years ago. It was the worst birthday ever. I'm sorry about the cramps. :/ Periods suck!

feel lucky, in canada 19 is the big birthday..and for mine i was in the hospital having surgery and spent 10 days on anti biotics in which i was not able to have my first legal drink.

I agree with #13- I don't think extremely bad cramps should be considered normal. Yes, I've had cramps, they suck, but nowhere near what you're describing. Especially if you get those extreme cramps every month, that is not good at all! Get it checked out, and I hope your 21st gets better!
