Today, my girlfriend missed our date, so I angrily texted her, telling her if she can't make our dates then we should break up, and generally telling her off. Five minutes later I get a picture of her sleeping in a hospital bed from her mother, saying, "Shut the fuck up, she had appendicitis." FML

Today, our dog became ill. My mom wasted no time attending her every needs and became very distressed. When I had appendicitis a few months ago, my mom told me to “sleep it off” and a friend had to take me to the hospital. She only called once to bitch at me for “doing this on purpose to make her feel bad.” FML

You all really need to give the posters the benefit of the doubt. How do you all know if it was just the first date she didn't show up for or the 20th? People don't exactly send a text about breaking up if the other isn't going to be on time for ONE date so it probably has happened many times. If the parents had told him she was in the hospital or if the girl would have been on time for earlier dates this never would've happened. So FYL, because the girl's parents hate you and it was partially their fault.

Among the other things that the OP didn't specify, we don't know if her parents even knew about their relationship. His girlfriend obviously had other things on her mind at the time (pain perhaps?) and so contacting him was probably not high on her list of priorities. And even if her mother did know about him, having a child in the hospital for any reason can be rather stressful, so contacting some boy would be the least of her worries. In the future, just make sure to "look before you leap."
