Today, I accidentally ran a stop sign. It wouldn't have been so bad if the stop sign hadn't been in a traffic cop's hands. FML

I can absolutely say I have never ran an ON FOOT COP stop sign. Or any stop sign. Some people are just more conscientious of our surroundings, I guess.

I've never in my life run a stop sign. I have however accidentally treated a red light as a stop sign. I came to a complete stop, looked left, looked right, looked left again and went as soon as I knew it was all clear. I realized my mistake right after when I checked the rear view mirror and the light was still red haha. At least it was a "safe" mistake.

I understand you OP. It happened to me once (luckily, there were no traffic cops there, but I almost crashed my car). Now I pay attention everytime I reach a stop sign.
