Stranger danger

By soul0eater - 12/03/2011 07:18 - Saudi Arabia

Today, I was at the mall and I saw a kid crying. I asked her "What's wrong sweetie, are you lost?" She ran away screaming "Help me!" I ended up having to explain to a dumb mall cop that I'm not a perv. FML

Adding to what #5 said: Unfortunately this happens way too much. Someone is in a car accident, unconscious and the car has seconds before likely bursting into flames. No paramedics are around, but to save the person's life, a stranger pulls them from the wreck just before the car bursts into flames. Guy has just had his life saved, but because the stranger was trying to save his life, not worry about his spine- the guy in the accident can never walk again and has to be in a wheelchair forever. Decides to sue his "saviour". I think there are laws now that protect actions that were taken in order to save someones life as long as there wasn't anyone else who was more qualified around and that it was life threatening like in the above scenario. But back on topic, this sucks but it's better to take a little bit of time out of your life rather then the kid not screaming but this time with a child molester. Not to mention if a stranger approached my hypothetical child and security just let them go after hearing "No I am not a child molester" I wouldn't be very happy either. But I think an hour was a little excessive without calling in higher authorities.

Nup. Screw that mentality. Isolated incidents of people being dickheads after having their ass saved wouldn't stop me from helping another human being that was in trouble. Buying into that hype makes the world a crappier place.

the mall cops don't even know what they're talking about half of the time. I got kicked out of the mall once because me and my friend were 'disturbing the peace' don't worry about it

oh my Gosh, something similar happened to me. Me and my friend were hanging out at the mall and this one little 4 year old was walking around and I asked her if she was lost and she ran to her parents who were eating :/

He said "sweetie." Doesn't mean he's a perv. My manager calls everyone "sweetie." Is he a perv, too?

if ur a man yes cause somehow if a guy is caring for a little boy/girl he's automatically a perv if it's a woman it's another story

I love this FML cause it's from Saudi Arabia KSA RULES ((for non-Arabians KSA means Kingdom of Saudi Arabia))

no good deed goes unpunished no act of charity goes un resented

This FML goes to show that the society is completely locked up into a belief that men approaching little girls or women always do it in order to hurt them. While it's true that many do just that, there's a fine line between prevention and paranoia.

This is what is wrong with people today! Someone talks to a child and they are a perv or pedo... But you would probably get shouted at for not helping the child. Maybe you should record yourself if you have to approach a child to offer help etc then you can cover yourself.

Well maybe you shouldn't go up to her, you pedophile!!!! I would go away running and screaming! YOU DESERVE IT, MORON!!!!!!!!!!!

Just one of the many awful things about predators is that they cause us all to fear and suspect each other. I think men have to deal with this more than women. In general men are considered second-tier caregivers, which is totally unfair. And it sucks, because it keeps good people from helping when they know their motives could be misinterpreted. OP, thanks for doing something to try to help this girl.

Because he is KSA it's easier for him to talk to kids. Plus, in ME, 'sweetie' is just a normal way to talk to kids, it's a cultural thing.
