"We found you in a dumpster."
More like 3..
1) she probably hates OP & her husband; 2) she's possibly bearing OP's husband's baby... thus happy ending... -either.wsy, OP's life sucks...
Too far...
What in the world made you think this was an appropriate comment?
You told her at 16? I was told since I was in elementary school (now 17) and over the years learned about it and accepted it. I never been so grateful in my life to be adopted. I would have never been able to have the opportunities I have now.
It's possible that her response of relief has little to do with her feelings towards her parents. I've sometimes heard adoptees say that prior to learning they were adopted, they inexplicably felt different or like they didn't belong in some ways. Throughout her life, OP's daughter may have subconsciously picked up on subtle, intangible differences in their family dynamics that gave her similar insecurities, and is now relieved to finally be able to attribute those feelings to an external cause.
Uh, yeah...if you waited until she was SIXTEEN to let her know that, you really aren't a great parent. I've known literally my whole conscious life that I was adopted...but if I had found out as a teenager, I would have felt pretty ****** betrayed.
Just because they decided to tell her when she was 16 it doesn't mean they are bad parents. Maybe they wanted to wait until she was old enough to understand, or the parents debated about it for a while before telling her.
Take her back lol
You told her at 13?
