Today, I called my auto insurance company to try to get some discounts and lower my rate. I ended up adding $30 to my monthly payment. FML

I'd suggest going around to a couple of local agents and see if you can get a better rate. You'd be surprised. I had been a policyholder of Progressive for years, and then got tired of having my rates go up. I now have State Farm car insurance at a better rate, and a local agent who will treat me right.
