Tense

Today, I was conducting interviews and I could tell this particular candidate was really nervous, so I was extra nice. At the end, he was reluctant to shake my hand. On the way out I realised why: I had lost the top button on my low cut top, and he was nursing his appreciation of the view. FML

He probably kept his hand in his pocket to conceal his raging boner. A woman in a position of authority with a low-cut top (missing a button, even!) being extra nice? I'm half a world away and I've got a raging boner!

Really professional of you for wearing a low cut top.

similar thing happened to me too. except I wad the one being interviewed . The table was glass and I could see the guy interviewing me rubbing his erection. upon leaving he tells me about my button

The table was glass and he did it anyway? Wonder if you got the job.

hah thats funny. next time i wouldn't wear a low cut top though;)

Uhm, what's wrong with a low-cut top? It's not slutty unless you could see her navel and her jugs were all over the place. In the work place, an inappropriately low top would likely have been addressed already, thus, her low top was not unprofessional...

She lost the top button. If she hadn't, the top would be appropriate. However, since the button was missing, it's probably too low and therefore deemed inappropriate.

B303123- Yes, you can, but if the shirt was buttoned up to her nose, I doubt the OP would have called it low-cut.

74- I can. I worked at a ladies' clothing store, Reitmans. Not sure if you've heard of it. Anyway, we were required to wear clothing from that store during our shifts. It didn't matter if it was dressy or casual (or both). Some of the pieces were tighter fitting and more revealing, others were lower cut but still not slutty. There were also more conservative pieces, so there was a large variety to choose from. My point is, if it was in the store, we were allowed to wear it.

Technically, anywhere you can earn money for a living is a 'real job'. This one happens to be called retail, which is common in the work force. It's a part of every day life, unlike prostitution.

146 is right. technicalities don't even need to be used. low cut does not mean slutty. everyone that is saying that is very close-minded. also, a position in retail IS a real job. not sure where you're from, "organisedchaos," but any paying position is a "real job."

bullshit, I just saw this on an episode of seinfeld no more than 5 minutes ago

Well this was definitely posted much more than 5 minutes before you said this, so while there is always a chance some FMLs may be exaggerated, it wasn't just posted up as a result of seeing that same Seinfeld episode. At least not at the same time. This stuff really happens.

well if he wasn't feeling well before he came to you, he probably left feeling pretty damn good

Lol. Nice. He was probably thinking about all the positions he could fill for you. ;-)

It wouldn't have been difficult for a mature applicant to disregard the cleavage display and proceed with the interview in a professional manner. If he couldn't handle a bit of discomfort in an interview, he'll totally fall apart when confronted with anything untoward in the job. NEXT!

OrganisedChaos-Thing is, in a job interview, that's all companies have to go by, as far as judging whether or not you can handle the job. Well that and a little application/resume. So sure, obviously the two don't go hand in hand, how the interviewed person will react to other on-the-job issues, but it doesn't set a very good first impression regardless. And that's kinda what interviews are based on, isn't it? So I agree with you, but.. Still doesn't really excuse the interviewed person...
