I know I'm gonna get a lot of hate for saying this, but, you don't know what connection the girl had with those shorts. They could be a present from a dead or sick relative or a reward for a great achievement, she could even have made them herself. That girl could have worked up the money to buy those shorts. Don't go around pointing fingers until you know the full story. Just because she wanted back cheap, $20 shorts, doesn't mean she's a brat. If my shorts were thrown out, I would want them back (depending on their significant value) or at least money (for the price of the shorts – if I had just bought them) in return for them chucking them out. The OP shouldn't have had to search for them, the people who chucked them out should have. Although, nevertheless don't go around teasing the girl. -Sky

So, let me get this straight: the cleaning staff threw out this kid's shorts, which sucks, but I guess accidents happen? I can't really picture how one can "accidentally" throw out something as large as a pair of shorts, but whatever. The kid, understandably, wants their shorts back. Somehow, this makes them a spoiled brat? It sucks that you have to fix someone else's mistake, but I don't see why the kid or the Dad are the villians here.
Surely you could have asked your boss if you could have showered? Logically if you're gross and smell you aren't making a good impression for the hotel...
