The price of love

By broke - 05/05/2009 04:07 - United States

Today, I got home from visiting my long-distance girlfriend. I spent $366 to get a plane ticket to visit her for the week. The day after I arrived there, she broke up with me and I had to buy a ticket for an earlier flight home. With fees and penalties, I paid around $550 to be broken up with. FML

#12: OH, and I wasn't calling you an idiot. I was calling the OP, it wouldn't let me edit. But it was going to say:: Idiot, for letting the FML end there I thought you'd say you kicked her ass or atleast stole her money & made HER pay!

#15 so you think she should have led him on for the week and let him think things were okay before dumping him rather than being honest from the outset? And OP I'm sorry, it sucks - I'm in a LDR myself and I know how much effort you put in... On a picky note (and I'm sure I'll get yelled at for mentioning this but it's starting to drive me crazy)... it's "paid" not "payed".

Not once yelled at you. Well, if you insist.. Yell!!

Why not stay? A cheap hotel wouldn't have costed that much for a few days. Then you could've taken your regular flight home.

There are too many FMLs like this. It sucks buddy, but we've already heard it.

Did you meet her on myspace, "date" for a days, then decide to meet her? lol. YDI for paying that much on an online GF. (hey, he never said it wasn't, so we can still rag on the stupidity of such a long distance relationship, for all we know, he might have never met her in person and he ended up not being who she thought he was)

Like other people said, at least she had the guts to break up with you to your face instead of something cold like through email. Same with doing it right away instead of leading you on for the entire week.

I don't believe in breaking up over the phone/cell/text message cause it just make you look like a chicken but in this case it would have been okay. That way he wouldn't have spent all that money and gone all the way for nothing. I give her kudos for doing it in person, but come on... #3: that's just not right.

Nope, its never okay, its just weak to break up over the phone.
