if my parents pulled that shit on me i'd probably press charges. $10,000 dollars is a legitimate amount of money.
Everyone saying: "10 grand isnt gonna make a lot of difference" okay, depending on where you go it may not...but you have to start somewhere and it is still a lot of money.
Also to any saying anything about hard work, how do you know this person didn't get a job as soon as they were 16, how do you know the parents even game them any money? Also when a student is in college and living on very little money 10,000 dollars is a lot of money to have taken away from you.
Wow... Tell them that you will never speak to them again if they do not give you the money back. Follow thru with this threat.

That really ought to be illegal. You get screwed if your parents don't meet their financial aid obligations for your education, so there should be some legal requirement for your parents to meet those obligations.
