Today, a customer at work said his table was dirty. I asked which one he was sitting at so I could clean it for him. For some bizarre reason he got pissed and called my manager over. He ended up reporting us to corporate, and my manager got written up. He's blaming me for everything. FML

This needs a follow up. I want to know what the guy said.

It is so stupid how corporations & managers write people up or fire them over the stupidest little customer complaint. People are idiots. Someone shouldn't lose there job because someone else is a moron. They shouldn't get written up either.

Customers are usually pretty ******* dumb - really sucks when you're victimized by that. FYL!

didn't you knOw that all servers have to be mind readers? sheesh some people are so rude. I'm sorry you had to deal with that.

Well on the bright side, he still has a dirty table! c;

Karma is a bitch. He'll get what's coming to him.

I feel like there was an extra detail left out... Who would go to all that trouble to get you in trouble for no reason?

Have you ever worked retail? I once had a customer tell my managers that I told her she was stupid and was wasting everyone's time by being in our store. She gave them my name and everything. Even if it was true, I kinda need an income so of course would never say that to her. People are messed up.

#24. Thank you. Finally someone said this. Corporate isn't going to write someone up for a silly complaint. Either the customer outright lied or there is much more to this story.

You'd be surprised at how many times customers lie outright to get their way. There have been multiple times where I've given a customer their food, and come back a couple of times to check that everything is okay, only to have them throw a huge bitch fit and claim that I got their order wrong and refused to fix it, or ignored them the whole time and never came to check on them once, or cursed at them and/or called them a rude name. A lot of the time, their aim is getting a free meal/dessert/gift card out of it, but they fail to realize that someone could lose their job because if it.

No 33, they do realise someone could lose their job. They just don't care. It also actually depends on the type of establishment how the customers will be. I worked in a McDonalds for a few years, and there were customers who would do all sorts. One man once bought a drink, then immediately threw it over the girl who served him at the counter. Others just make a mess deliberately do people have to clean it up. Now i work in a supermarket just down the road. Customers are a lot politer. And some people i can think of who disrupted McDonalds, are perfectly normal human beings in my store. I have almost exactly the same role in my supermarket that i did in McDonalds, but they act fairly reasonable to me now i'm in a supermarket instead. Then you get the dregs of society, those who come in 1 minute before closing time and fight with security for not letting them in, those who throw pints of milk on the floor (no use crying), those who vandalise the wheelchairs meaning disabled people can't use them. And of course, those who make a fuss just to get a gift card (our supermarket chain doesn't give them out if they think the customer is doing that though, and can reasonably justify it).

Sorry to hear that =c Hopefully the next day will be better!
