Today, a McDonald's employee had to correct my math after counting out $2.37 in change. I'm in AP Calculus and am currently learning how to find the derivative of an inverse of a logarithm. FML

No big deal. Simple mistake. I have a PhD in English and misstype/spell words weekly. That doesn't mean I'm any less intelligent.

Who the **** you think you are that someone from mcdonalds can't be smart? A lot of people work at chain restarunts to pay for school, medical bills, etc.

OP are you saying what I think you're saying? YDI for thinking that just because you are studying maths that somehow makes you smarter than someone else who works at McDonalds. Just because they work there doesnt make automatically mean they are less intelligent. Its a job and everyone has to start somewhere. Maybe they are studying too, and rely on McDonalds to help them pay for it, you dumbass.

YDI for thinking you are better than a MacDonald's employee. Pompous arrogant ass and dumb to boot!

Based on my experience, calculus is easier than adding and subtracting. I can derive in my head, but need my fingers or a calculator to add. Also, I know some people who work at fast food places who have taken higher level math classes. (I'm talking college, not high school.)

Its a tough economy, he's probably got a Ph.D

I love how the majority of the people beating up on this poor guy can't spell and they have awful grammer, anddddddd are using the wrongs words on their sentences. ha.

You spelled "and" wrong, also.

so? I've found no matter how intelligent a person is, they're only human, they sometimes make really stupid mistakes.

Quit being a whiny little bitch. A lot of people have problems remembering the fundamentals as they go higher in their education. It's not that uncommon and it's nothing to be ashamed of. You should be ashamed of the cocky-ass way in which you dismiss the McDonald's employee as being inferior to you. Jackass. YDI, and I hope that you told the employee that you are in AP Calc and "currently learning how to find the derivative of an inverse of a logarithm" as you were yelling at him that he gave you the wrong change, just so that he could laugh at your sorry ass after his buddy in the back wiped a booger in your BigMac. Shit, we learned all that crap right after mapping our polar coordinates and jacking around with Mandelbrot's work in freshman geometry when I was in high school. Not that I remember any of that. I hate math. It makes my brain itch and bleed.

Wow cause English Majors never make grammatical mistakes and doctors never have patients die on the table. You are human, while you might/sort of/maybe think/be good at math, it does not mean you are the BEST MATHEMATICIAN IN THE WORLD. Also, how do you know that the person working at MacDonalds didn't have several shiny degrees and a bad luck streak with the recession and has to work there.

I did a brief stint a Mcy D's while I was in college. Had 4 semesters of calculus and differential equations under my belt by that time. My arithmetic improved during that couple of months because they made me work the drive-through window, and count back change from a drawer opened by the manager's key instead of having the computer tell me how much the person was due. Reduced their drive-through times that way. Next time you wish to make a derivative and derisive remark about the people at the till, consider asking them for help with your homework first. "Would you like fries with that?"
