Today, a woman somehow managed to drop her wedding ring into the garbage at the fast food place where I work. I had to search through a full bag of half eaten food and soda to find it. FML

Today, I noticed I'd lost my wedding ring after returning home from a long, tiring day of painting our newly purchased home. After driving back and forth to the house for more than an hour to go looking for it, I found it tucked away in my back pocket. FML

Today, I thought I'd lost the ring that my boyfriend had given me, in the snow, in the dark. I spent a half hour with a flashlight searching every part of my driveway. The ring was on my kitchen windowsill the whole time. I took it off earlier to do dishes. FML

Sounds to me like OP's boss didn't give him/her the option of not looking for it. He and Derpy McDropsyring probably were just standing there awkwardly watching. What I want to know is, did your boss make you keep working, or did you get to at least change your clothes? I'm sorta guessing s/he made you stay... If both my assumptions are correct, that is unacceptable. I would demand an hour off to go shower and change my uniform, and I'd return with my two-weeks notice. That job sounds like shit, you deserve much better.
