Today, after getting back from my interior design class, I told my husband that I learned the golden rule for home decor: "Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful." He looked at me dead in the eyes, and didn't say a word. FML

Maybe he just looked at you like that because he couldn't grasp the concept of what you were saying. Like he was confused and what you said made no sense.

Maybe he thought you were being hypocritical. Do you have some cabinets or decorations he finds pointless?

He sounds like the Romeo I married. FML.

Time for a talk? What planet do YOU live on? It's time for some self evaluation if the person she lives with does not find her useful or attractive. His opinion may be the correct one.

I think he just heard the words "home decor" and zoned the **** out because honestly, NO ONE ELSE cares about your decoration besides the person paying for it. And your grandma.

I wouldn't take it personally. It probably wasn't about you---he just didn't care much about home decorating.

He probably thought you were talking about tossing some of his things. He could have zoned out too.

I really don't understand what's going on here, when you husband was just staring maybe he was waiting for you to say more. That golden rule is great but how are you going to apply it. Active listening skills
