If you spent $15K on a dog, you can't complain about the money. That's the rules.
Some of you people make me sick. I bet you're the people who I see commercials about who neglect their pets and who have their homes raided by police for animal abuse. I guess you're all the kind of person who found it fun to actually try running over animals when they're in the road instead of avoiding them or spent time as a child shooting birds and squirrels with BB guns. This may come as a surprise to some of you people but there are those out there who actually love animals as much or more than people and would go great lengths to keep them healthy. It isn't being selfish to try to keep a pet alive by having it treated for its medical conditions. How is it different to treat a dog or cat or a ******' pet rock with chemo or radiation like you would a person? People out there love their pets just the same as any other member of their family. Just because it's "only an animal" doesn't make it any easier to put them down and they are not easily replaced. I had to sit and watch my Uncle die from pancreatic cancer over the course of 2 years. He went through chemo, radiation, and multiple surgeries but still withered away to nothing and died. Perhaps we should have done the right thing and just put him down right off the bat instead of "wasting" tens of thousands of dollars in treatments. None of you out there would label that as being cruel or torturous or over-the-top but once you try doing that to an animal it's entirely different and I fail to see how. All in all what we're trying to do here is preserve and save life in whatever form it may be.... I hope one day you find yourself lying on a hospital bed, surrounded by everyone you've ever loved and trusted in your life, and find out you have cancer to which they all reply "let's just put him down, we can always adopt a new one".
I am pro choice and if your Uncle had written a DNR or could speak his own mind I'd listen to him. As much as you want to care, people still come first. Sure you can love your dog like a family member but when it boils down People > Pets; ALWAYS. Don't compare your family member to the family dog because its apples to oranges.
Holy GEEZ. There is a difference between knowing where to draw the line in the amount of money you spend on an animal, and downright neglecting it! Some people deserve a slap upside the head. I've known many families to have dogs and cats, including my own family when I was a kid, and all those pets were dearly loved, treated very well, taken to the vet whenever they were sick, but I don't know anybody who would spend 15 grand on their pet! The difference between this dog and your uncle is that your uncle IS A HUMAN. Sorry to all people's poor little sensibilities, but humans are more important than animals. This is why, if you hit an animal in your car, you don't end up in court. Humans also have palliative care and sophisticated medical care and painkillers to make their life more comfortable; animals who are suffering do not have those same benefits. Comparing a dog to a person is just pathetic. How old are you, fourteen?
I like how many people want to justify spending $15,000 on a pet. There is probably only 1, MAYBE 2 people commenting that WOULD do it but sooo many are just high-strung teenagers. Reality is: $15,000 on a dog is STUPID! If you have that much cash you better have: A) Your child's tuition paid for B) Your home paid off C) No debt I've had pets, they are something special and always will be for me, but there is a point where you need to let go. You can't hold onto something forever and death is part of life.
Look I'm sorry for your dog but why did you shell out so much money for him/her? I had a dog that had cancer and we paid for a surgery to help him out a bit, but it just got worse. And the vet even said that he was in pain, you could just tell looking at him. The humane thing to do would have been to put him down and end his suffering. A dog can't talk, so you can't assume that he's not in pain from the treatments. My best friend is in vet school and has repeatedly told me that people would shell out thousands of dollars for treatment that's just going to prolong their pain. Cancer treatment isn't a happy road for dogs, even if they survive. And I'm assuming he was semi-old considering he eventually died of kidney failure. It just seems cruel to put an animal through that when they have no choice in the matter.
I understand dogs are an important part of a family, I grew up with a dog, but no way would I spend 15 grand on it.
aww
you deserve it you stupid dumbass. you couldve bought a ****** car or 100 more dogs.. why not just get rid of it and move on? you my friend, fail at life.

your poor dog..
Boo ******* hoo, some guy took his own hard earned money and paid for something they care about's health instead of listening to some dumb **** on the internet and giving it to charity. What about people who spend hundreds of thousands more to buy a bigger house, even though they don't really a house that big? Shouldn't they have given their money to charity? What about billionaires who spend their money on playboy bunny slaves? How many little African kids would you save if he gave all his money to charity? Face it you dumb *****, giving your money to charity is an option, stop making it seem like this guy was obligated to do it just because he spent money on his dog. You know what else people do? They spend loads of money buying food for their dogs! And pfft, we ALL know dogs don't need food! They should have spend that money on some poor kids in Africa with AIDS to let them live a few more days even though they're already on death row because no amount of money even in your stupid ******* idealistic bubble could save them all. Grow the **** up.
