Today, as a veteran blood donor, I made a friend who was donating for the first time- I told her not to be scared and that I've been doing it for six years and that it was a great way to help people. While at the snack area afterwards, I passed out, started convulsing and went into shock. FML

Today, I gave blood for the first time, since I'm a universal donor. After it was done, I passed out, woke up, puked, and passed out again. The kind nurses told me I was the worst case they had seen all week. So much for doing something to help others. FML

Today, I donated blood for the first time. It wasn't until I passed out on the ice during hockey practice that I remembered the nurse warning me not to do any type of exercise. FML

Today, I got my blood drawn for a donation and they didn't warn me that I was borderline anemic. I passed out in the middle of Walgreens and woke up to people just standing there, staring. FML

Panic attack

Today, I went to donate blood for the first time. When they stuck the needle in my arm, I had a panic attack and begged that they take it out. The woman helping me told me she'd take it out in a moment and left. It was then that the Red Cross stole a pint of my blood while I had a panic attack. FML

Today, I went to a blood drive. The nurse taking my blood mentioned that she'd been called in on her day off, and she swore she wasn't drunk. I didn't know what to do, so I just smiled and blinked back tears as she savaged the vein in my arm. FML

Today, I tried to get over my childhood phobia of syringes by donating blood. The phlebotomist hadn't even touched the needle before I started sobbing hysterically. They made me leave. FML

Today, I went to the blood bank to donate plasma. All went well until the machine went to return my red blood cells. It turns out the nurse sliced my vein and the blood built up in my tissues. I now have a massive swollen arm and bruising, and look like a junkie. FML

Panic!

Today, I was at the doctor and I had to get a fingerstick in the lab to get blood drawn. There was a 6 year-old boy waiting to go next. He was terrified. His mother told him to, "Watch this brave girl go first." I panicked and began to hyperventilate. The kid fainted. FML

Today, I decided to give blood for the second time. I felt excrutiating pain when she stuck the needle in my arm. Another nurse came running over in a panic. Apparently my inexperienced nurse had put it in my tendon instead of my vein. FML

ive been trying to make my first appy. for plasma dontaion ive been there.. ten times reject 3x for pulse too high 1x for not knowing i needed protein 1X because i was too late.. not my fault 4x for new donor limit and worst of all 1x because after sitting for 5 hours, the computers went down

#39 Paid for plasma donation? Where is this? I've donated plasma twice and only got the usual juice and cookie. OP: Thanks for donating. I've donated whole blood more times than I can recall and I have never seen anything happen to anybody. Earlier poster: The people serving in the snack area are volunteers, or phlebotomists on break, so there isn't always somebody there.

that succksss but yeah it can happen....once my friend was giving blood and the nurse lady like tripped or something..cant remember exactly how it happened but she pricked herself on accident and then passed out...

You deserve respect for going to give blood. I personally can't give blood, but it really is a great thing to do. Kudos to you for being so selfless and for trying to get other people to join you.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah I never once wanted to donate blood. I was just starting to reconsider but this thoroughly changed my mind. You should just do the whole Organ Donor thing. They take those when your not using them anymore.
