Today, as I walked into the bank, I tripped and bumped into a security guard. He thought I was assaulting him, so he pinned me to the floor and called for backup as he held me at gunpoint. FML

sarahsehhati, I've had a gun pointed at my face twice, even being a cop's gun, it was scary. I'm a security guard myself, and if I treated someone like that I'd lose my security lisence, I'd want some form of apology for having a gun held at my head, too

Nope. They don't. The Israeli police do too. I was in 6th grade when they threw a tear gas canister into our taxi on the way to school when we stopped at the checkpoint. They laughed.

I carry a security pistol every day and have never needed to point it at someone and hold them down, the guard needs to learn about escalation of force.

Since when do security guards carry a gun? Unless he is a cop... Hope you got it straightened out OP.

some security guards do depending on the job, a security officer at a shopping center wouldn't have one, but someone doing cash in transit, or security at a bank would require one. This is talking about Australia though, but I imagine it's similar in the states

id be concerned if a security guard at a bank didnt have a gun. how useless would they be during a robbery...

The point of carrying a weapon for security depends on what is being protected and the threat potential at the site.

since it's america, he probably brought his own to work ?

Perfect timing what with all this Ferguson case talk going around on the news..

Not sure how this can be tied to that incident.

the gun. it still amazes me that the powers at be in america manage to turn incidents like these about race.

Ô.ō it's sad that the world we live in is so crazy that things like this actually happen.

You really can't read that well, can you? Security Guards are not cops.

You do know now that your money is being very well secured:)

Good thing is that you are still alive to post this on FML :D

Security guard, seriously, did anyone actually read the FML?

It's hardly the bank's fault, they probably hire security from a private firm

His actions are absolutely disgusting. I hope you're okay.
