Yea, you have to be careful about what you say in public because you don't know who could hear you and you should be respectful of those around you. I know you didn't mean anything by it, but in her defense, it's not like she was eavesdropping on the conversation. She just happened to look over and see you messing around with a napkin over your face. It was easy for her to assume you were making fun of her. Best you could've done was just explain yourself.
