Oh of course everyone is so quick to blame the mother. Newsflash, guys, even if a parent teaches their child something, for one thing, little kids do things without thinking. It's part of being that age. They have no sense of tact or discretion. A parent can teach a child all they like about what's wrong or right, but in the end, they can't make those choices for the child. It's the child who ends up deciding whether or not to use those lessons. And to those saying "well why did you let him bring the gun?", ever stop to think maybe she didn't know he had it? It's very easy for a child to sneak things into their pockets. Honestly, no one here is using a damn bit of common sense.
Actually, I was not blaming the mother. I am blaming a society that denies a parent the right to: 1. Search one's child for inappropriate things. 2. Give proper level punishment for such outrageous behavior. 3. Make it where the parent gets the legal retaliation of the law. 4. Makes it where other adults cannot direct their dismay/indignation/anger directly at the child. If these were not in play, what would have happened was this. The kid would have done that, the teller would have been allowed to call the little punk that and more, the parent would have ripped the toy out of the child's hands, spanked the kid's ass, then allowed the teller to have his/her turn. No one would have called the cops, no one would have been nearly arrested, and the kid would have gotten the punishment he/she deserved. "But that would have been humiliating to the child!", some say. EXACTLY!!! Children should be humiliated when they do things like that, period. The child was well aware that his behavior was over the top, so his punishment should fit the crime.
oh yes, because the mother didnt know Santa Claus gave the kid the gun.. come on seriously? I would NEVER give my child anything that even remotely looked like a real gun... a nerf gun, sure, but you can obviously tell that is a fake... This is how you get psychos running around shooting people...
Silent alarm = over reacting 8 year old with REALISTIC toy gun in bank = unthoughtful Hope you learned from this exciting experience... lmao!
That's a 21st story
Do you know how to control your kid?
The bank teller did the right thing. She was not dimwitted. If you want someone to blame, blame the dimwitted parent who thinks "toy gun" is an appropriate gift for a child, and who allows that child to bring it into a bank.
Firstly, why does an eight year old have a real looking gun? Secondly, you allow it outside of home, and thirdly, the behaviour of children is often reflected in their parents skills at upbringing... Go back to Te Kiwiti...
Why you dont let your kids have realistic toy guns. (also why they don't really make them, you must have worked really hard to get one. Odd. ) don't blame it on the cashier.

I can see a very good life coming from this kid. Maybe not a legal one, but a rich one none the less.
Why did you allow your son to bring a gun- even a fake- into a bank in the first place?
