Why wasn't she vaccinated? YDI she doesn't.
The U.K. doesn't offer it.
Savage
Ydi for not vaccinating her. People like you should lose their kids for neglecting their medical well-being and subjecting them to preventable illnesses.
In the UK it is not recommended to have the vaccine for Chickenpox. This is because if people were vaccinated then those who weren't (for whatever reason) would be more likely to get it as adults when it is more severe and dangerous (e.g. during pregnancy). It also apparently gives people more protection against shingles bu the vaccine does not. The NHS website explains it.
Chicken pox at any age does not protect you from shingles. Having chicken pox is what puts the shingles virus in your body.
Don't put down OP because of your ignorance. The vaccine does not prevent it, it gets your body prepared to act against it when you do catch it. Be informed!
I was in the same boat OP. My 17 month old caught it on Christmas Eve. Safe to say, neither me, him nor his dad left home for the holidays as hubby and I hadn't caught it until then. Itchy Christmas and a Scratchy New Year!
