My friend swears this worked for her when she wanted to know how good of a dancer she was. Find a video of a dancer you really like. Recreate their surroundings, learn the dance, practice like mad, etc. Record yourself doing that dance. Compare. Granted, the other dancer probably had months to learn that dance and had the help of seasoned professionals. But if you can watch your video objectively (or have someone else watch it) and you cannot stand it then you are not as good as you think you are and not cut out for the show. It's important to do a dance that someone else made. It's harder to be objective when watching something you put a lot of work into. Besides all that, going on the show is about more than your ability to dance. You can be a great dancer, but if you cannot handle the pressure you will not make it very far.

Either a) prove them wrong or b) you think your skill is a lot higher than you actually are, and they might have a point. Sucks they are un-supportive, but lets see how your auditions go first...
