Today, I babysat the Antichrist of all kids. After the 5 long hours were over, his parents came home. Instead of paying me what they agreed, they offered to let me eat some leftovers of a takeout in the fridge. I'm so afraid of confrontation that I accepted. FML

Today, I babysat the brattiest and most foul-mouthed 8-year-old I've ever met. After I survived three hours of it, his parents finally came home. He claimed I'd invited a boy over and that we did "stuff" on the couch all evening. They believed him. I didn't get paid, to say the least. FML

Today, I babysat the neighbors’ evil kids. They dropped them over at my house and I played with them for five hours. After taking the brats back home and putting them to bed, their mother asked me what time I came back to the house. She only paid me for the 20 minutes I was in their house. FML

Today, I was babysitting. Being kind, I went to grab their mail, while their 4 year old ate lunch. He locked me out, wrecked the house, and let me in right when he saw their car two hours later. I didn't get paid. I paid them. FML

Today, I babysat a kid who was such a bratty little prick that I actually considered walking out on the job. After his mom finally got home 4 hours later, he called her a slut. When he got in trouble for it, he claimed that I taught him the word. Needless to say, I didn't get paid. FML

Today, I babysat a 6-year-old boy for the first time. When I said it was his bedtime, he just screamed "Eat a dick!" at me. I was so shocked, all I could do was leave him be. When his parents returned, I had to make up an excuse for why he was still awake and watching TV, to save my pride. FML

I know it can be tough but you need to learn how to stick up for yourself OP. I've been in similar situations where the families I babysit pay me much less than they promised but leftovers? Not okay. Not okay by a long shot.

That is so messed up! It is never ok to screw over someone looking after your spawn, much less bartering with leftovers! I say take an adult with you back to them and demand payment!

Unfortunately I think they probably sensed you'd concede. I hate confrontation too so next time establish form of payment ahead of time so you can politely say I'd like what payment we agreed upon. Though I'd not return to babysit this little hellion. Good luck future wise.

If you're so afraid of confrontation, just count this one as a loss and learning experience. If they ask for you services again, tell them you accept cash only!
