Get an otter box or life proof case. Both expensive but great cases!
Smart case buyers test drop other people's phones.
Even if it was 'invincible', or made the phone invincible at least, it may only be for the first drop, like a crash helmet, so dropping it was a pretty dumb idea all round. At $80, wouldn't it be smarter to save the money for later replacements/repairs, seeing as the phone may later malfunction or something regardless of it being dropped?
Don't intentionally drop your phone.
If this was a lifeproof case, the directions clearly stated to close the case up WITHOUT THE PHONE INSIDE and submerge it underwater to make sure it works.
...the shock of it hitting the ground is the same exact thing as a leaky case.
Should have gotten an Otter Box--it's cheaper and more reliable
