I'm sorry, but you broke up with him. You're not "entitled" to any sort of reaction. He's his own person and will deal with the break up in the best way for him. Don't expect him to break down in tears and beg you not to leave.

Wow, what were you expecting? Him to grovel on his knees and ask for you back? Or maybe for him to break down crying so you got your gratification? Sounds like he handled it by trying to distract himself so he didn't break down and embarrass himself in front of you, but nobody feels so casual after hearing that their relationship of seven years just ended.
