Today, I came home from a week-long vacation, only to find my mother-in-law didn't just dog-sit while I was gone; she moved in, along with all her possessions, and seems to think it's a permanent deal. FML

Simple solution, tell her to move out or pay rent. If she refuses, call the cops.

wow do I feel bad for you. your life has to suck pretty bad right now.

Dog-sit, you sit on some types of furniture, just a bad joke is all.

& your wife is ok with it haha all you need is a kid & you have a in home baby-sitter

OMG that sucks. I would freak out! I can't stand uninvited guests who won't take the hint, never mind uninvited roomies! You need to talk to your wife and then talk to your mother in law together, you guys need to be united to deal with this. Just be firm and assertive. You also might want to see whether she has any health or financial problems that have lead to this, because she is not behaving normally. Is she struggling living alone? Could she be having problems paying the rent or mortgage on her own place and she was embarrassed to tell you? Anyway it's not appropriate for her to move all her stuff in and just assume she can stay but maybe knowing why will help you work out a better solution. Good luck!

I hope you have a serious chat with her before it's too late. I really think she got the impression that she was going to stay there forever , wondering whom said that to her?she had to have some clue or impression or she wouldn't have left her home for yours.

Did it occur to you she might have done it deliberately?

Grab the M16, fully automattic of course and she'll know to leave.

Well if my mother-in-law dog-shitted in my house for a week, I'd make her clean it up. Or else my wife would.
