No, do not just "get her an IUD". There are plenty of other methods of birth control that are just as effective and way less problematic and painful and traumatizing than IUDs. Mirena comes with a high risk of developing ovarian cysts, which are painful as hell, not to mention how much it hurts going in and how much general discomfort it causes overall if you've never had a child before. My recommendation is Nexplanon. Goes in your arm, you don't feel a thing and it's good to go for several years. And I've had no side effects aside from some acne flairups (I've never had acne before in my life) but it's a small price to pay for such fantastic birth control!

I got a copper IUD and I loved it but it fell out during my first period after I got it put in. They say it's common for the body to reject it if you've never been pregnant before, because the uterus isn't used to having something inside it. It was so much better than hormonal birth control, I wish it had worked.
