Today, I'd had it with my mom's addiction to weed, so I told her to choose between me or the weed. I'm currently looking on Craigslist for an apartment. FML

While it is true that you aren't addicted to the actual chemical THC in marijuana, you can become "addicted" to the effects it creates. Here's a really crappy example: you don't become addicted to being held at gunpoint by muggers, but you can get addicted to the adrenaline rush, so to get your fix, you'll walk around seedy parts of town with money hanging out your ass to get that rush again.

Nobody's ever OD on THC and yes before everybody calls me a stupid child I can cite sources for that If this is true (altho I haven't seen a report confirming it) then that would make weed a far far safer alternative to chemo which by definition is a poison and carcinogen

Thank you 198, that's probably one of the only knowledgable comments I've seen. Studies show marijuana is safer than peanuts; because people die from choking on or allergies to peanuts. Peanuts are shown to kill an average of 100 people a year, while marijuana has killed none. Seems ok to me.

You know, I don't really care about weed, but when I see stoners making complete idiots of themselves I think "gee, and you wonder why people don't want it legalized?" maybe it doesn't kill brain cells, but you could have fooled me.

#136 -- Hey, hey, hold your horses. Stop this boat, because I don't like where it's going. Don't lump everyone into one category. There are casual drinkers, just as there are casual smokers. And I'm an occasional drinker. Also, it is of note that there are quite a few people who might be substance abuse addicts and are considered "geniuses" by popular opinion (though "popular opinion" should be taken with a grain of salt). In any case, I'm going to sit here with this wooden, perfunctory smile and gaze off into the sunlight, hoping for the day when people stop suffering from collective fucktardation. So as everyone else has said, you CAN get addicted to anything! Especially people with highly addictive personalities. But, in this case, maybe she wasn't addicted. Maybe she was just annoyed that her "child" (who is old enough to live in an apartment on their own!) is always nagging her about her smoking habits and bringing down her highs. And about the whole "weed should be legalized" deal. I'd rather it be illegal than it be legal and regulated by the government since they would be adding all kinds of chemicals to it and ruining the pure amazingness of God's smoke-able love.
