A few years ago at 30 my mom finally told me why my grandmother was never a part of my childhood. Apparently she came home early from work once to find her then husband (prior to my father) en flagrante with her mother under the dining room table. Husband had the good grace to run off with someone else entirely and never speak to her again. Her mother however pretended the whole thing never happened. Years later told her pastor my mom estranged herself just because she was a bad daughter. Shockingly, this shit does actually happen. Super selfish people getting off on being above basic morals.
