Fumigate. do what you have to do to get rid of them. And then if you need a new mattress - buy an air mattress!
Suffercate? It's: "suffocate". Do you know how much air would still remain in a plastic wrapped mattress, even if it was tightly sealed? Plenty to sustain bedbugs. Combine that with the fact that the bugs can live over a year without a blood meal and it's easy to see why eradicating an infestation is very difficult.
I had a bed bug problem in an apartment. Thankfully I had planned on moving back to my parent's for a surgery anyway. But my landlady gave me some tips. If you can vacuum EVERYWHERE then get rid of the filter right away and use HOT (as hot as you can) water to clean the part that sucks up int othe vac. Then, use hot soapy water along baseboards, and either rent or borrow a steam cleaner. Then comes the fun part, wash everything you can in a washing machine. Then dry the life out of it. And if you live in an apartment building, go talk to your landlord because they will spread to other apartments. If you rent at all go talk to your landlord, and give reasons why they should fumigate.
I would buy a bed-bug proof mattress cover. Put all your clothes in plastic bags, wash and put them through the drier. The heat of the drier kills them. You can also put your mattress outside (if it's winter) for a week (the cold kills bbs, they have a very short temperature range where they thrive). Of course, you don't want your mattress stolen, I am not sure if you live in a city, etc. Vacuum, vacuum, vacuum the bugs and eggs and throw out the sheets. Diatomaceous earth is said to kill them too if you sprinkle around the bed. Keep washing your sheets too.
Hygiene---- get some! try showering before you go to bed, washing your bedding regularly, and keeping your room clean and free of food. so really YDI for Hygiene reasons.
I hope that was a joke. If not you're an idiot.
that happened to me... my brother in law was staying with us and infested our couch with them... vacuum and use lots of lysol... the alcohol and cold will freeze and kill them... take a bath in water with a cap full of Lysol and spray the carpet and base boards... if anyone could let u use a carpet cleaner use it with Lysol... I'm not kidding it works...
1. if you slept in another room, they would follow. 2. replacing your mattress wouldn't help. They don't live in the mattress. They live individually, in electrical outlets, furniture, closets, under the carpet and in every crack in the house. They will go as far as climbing up the wall, across the ceiling and drop onto your face at night. THUS: exterminator is the only way.

Anti-peasents? That's what is wrong with this kingdom, there are too many peasants. We need to find ways to motivate them to grow and harvest food more efficiently. The floggings are just not working like they used to do. That way we can increase our manpower for the construction of the castle. I would like it to be completed in thirty years so I can use the money left over for the training of knights. We also need to widen the forest by the road so there is safe passage through Sherwood Forest.
Apparently they are the only ones keeping you company in bed.
