Today, I enlisted for The Navy because my Boy Scout leader encouraged me. He fought in Korea and is a real inspiration. I asked him what motivated him to join The Navy. He said he was drunk and didn't remember joining until he was called up. FML

You're old enough to join the navy and still in the boy scouts?

@ 1: Maybe he enlisted as a result of his former Boy Scout leader, but yes you can still be in scouts at age 18. OP: If he's a real inspiration and encouraged you to enlist, how did you not discuss his motivation to join until now?

Mhmm and what do you do with your spare time? Oh yea, sit behind that comp screen lookin at kiddie **** with your cheese puffs gettin caught in your moldy fat rolls. I doubt you could even make the hike upstairs to your mommys breakfast in the mornings, let alone across the Rocky Mountains. F&*k off and die you waste of oxygen.

******* cry baby. Im with that guy, boy scouts is for faggots.

Even though gay people aren't even allowed into boy scouts? Oh your so smart... I've seen chicken with their heads cut off smarter than you. Don't get yourself all worked up or you might get a hot flash grannie dumbshit.

What an idiot. You know doing that gets you further promoted in the military right? Which means more pay, making rank quicker, etc etc. I bet he'll be a lot better off then you are right now.

#64 - Nice defense of the Boy Scouts there, pointing out that it's a bigoted institution.

I'm proud to be a boyscout. I mean I enjoy the outings, I get to hike and rockclimb, stay on battleships, canoe, and all sorts of cool stuff. I've seen things you can only imagine, and had lunch with people you dream of shaking hands with. All thanks to scouting. So I shared a tent with my friend? I'm comfortable enough with my sexuality to not throw a hissy fit when I sleep in the same room as another guy. I know eleven year old boy scouts more manly than you guys, and have never met a homosexual boy scout. Not because it's a bigoted organization, technically boy scouts are allowed to be gay, just not allowed to be, er...romantically involved with other scouts. BSA shows no bias or prejudice of any kind. All that, and I never said anything about how amazing being a boy scout looks on a college application or resume (espicially Eagle Scout). And this is because of all the life skills that scouts learn. We don't sit around and tie knots, we develop people skills, leadership skills, and strive to uphold many honorable virtues and qualities that any employer would want in their employees. So please don't go around letting your ignorance spill out of your mouth...It just makes you look bad. Think before you speak.

Seriously if you're in boy scouts and you're over the age of 9 then chances are you have no social life and/or all you're friends are in boy scouts. Its called BOY scouts. If you're old enough to enlist then you're definitely not a boy, more like a man.

Quit your bitching your acting like he lied to you. The military is not that bad any way.

If you joined the navy only because someone told you to you pretty much deserve it.

You make life changing decisions because someone tells you to? You know how when you do something stupid as a child, blame it on someone else by saying 'they told me to do it', and the grown up says 'if I told you to jump off a cliff...'? Yeah.

How is this an FML? Your life isn't f*cked because your Boy Scout leader enlisted while drunk. Also, I agree with what half the people said about you enlisting only off of the advice of your leader. Maybe you should look into these types of things before you act. Would you buy a car just because someone told you it was nice?

The only way he'll die in the Navy is if he drowns with seamen... jk

You'll probably be more successful in life
