I think OP's dad could've just been joking around. I live in Australia, and here, people tend to call their friends 'c***s' and strangers 'mate'. It just sounds like the typical Aussie sense of humour to me.

I honestly don't see why this even is an FML situation. I find it very hard to believe that it was serious, it sounds like it was supposed to be amusing. I'd think you, OP, would know however if your dad has that type of humor. In any case, I don't think your life is effed.
