Today, I finished my project two weeks early. Now I am being laid off because there is no work to do. FML

I wish road workers had that kind of motivation so they would get off their asses and fix up all the roads they tear apart.

I learned long ago, "Don't paint yourself out of a job." If you have a deadline, either meet it or let it slip a bit, but NEVER finish early. You'll only get more work and less time to do it for the same pay. Also, when a date is assigned for a project, your manager is telling you when he or she is ready for it. Premature projaculation is disease of young men that gets cured over time.

Also, it is not politically wise to finish a project early. Your career will be highly affected by your ability to work with others, in contrast with your education which is judged almost exclusively on your individual achievement. Your co-workers are going to hate you if you finish your work before the deadline because you are going to make them look bad right away, and you might cause the managers to allow less time for future projects. There is really no benefit to finishing a project ahead of time. There is also no benefit to coming in WAY under budget, but that is a different lesson. Enjoy unemployment, jackrabbit/jackass!

If your co-workers can't keep up then they SHOULD look bad because they are. They deserve it for being slow/lazy and unskilled.

Don't forget you also have to coexist with them in the same office for 8-10 hours/day

Look on the bright side- You might make more off of unemployment! You get to live off of taxpayers' money now. FYL for being productive, F taxpayers lives for having to deal with your boss's stupidity.

rofl and they say being lazy doesn't pay! seriously though I'm sorry for you. good news is that unemployment bennefits go for a full year these days

I have NEVER heard of someone being fired for finishing something early. Wow...shouldn't finishing a project early be a good thing? It means you actually work hard and manage your time well!

Luckster. Sometimes people are hired for a project and when it is done, they are done. Also, "laid off" is different from "fired." Laid off means that if there is not work to be done, they don't need you. The OP DIDN'T manage his time well.

YDI for working too hard and showing everyone else up. jkjk

wow buddy you sure thats the real reason why you hand in stuff late? even online im like whoa his spelling sucks
