Today, I flew to Dubai, en route to my new job in Afghanistan. Both of my bags were lost, my debit card was frozen in London, the next flight was cancelled, and I can't get a hotel room. I'm in the richest city in world with no money and no room. Happy New Year. FML

Feel bad for you. I hope you get money and a room. I wish you the best of luck. Happy new year 2012!

Hey, in a few days you'll be in the poorest country in the world, so you'll fit right in. Consider this ordeal as training for your new post.

At least you haven't lost your ability to see the irony in this. But I agree with #19: It can only get better! Happy New Year.

Well look on the bright side since you'll be sleeping out on the street you will get a good view of the fireworks tonight. Happy new year! :)

Always gotta call the bank when you leave the country, they freeze your accounts because of "suspicious activity" and whatnot. Fyl, but Happy New Year!

I always figured this was common sense, but after visiting LFMF, I guess not.

Kinda wish I knew you then I could magic money to you! Or at least book u into a hotel ah well pet, happy new year!

But at least you have your phone right?

I'll tell you by experience.. I've done my share of years working as a contractor.. Before you go ANYWHERE always call your bank and tell them where you'll be, including any stops u might do in the way.. i.e. London... Otherwise they will block your cards thinking it has been stolen. All you need to do is call them and they'll reactivity it. Good luck!!

That's not so bad.... .... Wait, I'm sorry, that's very bad.

It IS bad, but it is also easily fixed.
