Fluttershy is a yellow pony with pink mane and tail with 3 butterfly "birthmarks" on her flank. She's one of 6 of the main characters in "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" a revamped version of the 80's children's cartoon "My Little Pony" which is reflective of the Hasbro toys.

Actually, it's a "cutie mark" not a birthmark. They aren't born with them, they have to discover their special talent and then it appears. Just wanted to clarify that.

Also, not a flank. It's the hip. I don't watch MLP, but I know horses and I'm pretty sure the animators didn't put their marks on the sensitive spot between the rear leg and stomach (kind of a horse's armpit), near their crotches. On a horse it would be the hip or rump. Otherwise, best description yet.

I looked at a few pictures of ponies. It's sad that the writers/creators/animators (whoever made the mistake) of a show entirely about horses would make such a horrible error. I assure you that is not the flank. Maybe they used the word "flank" because it made a cute rhyme, but it's inaccurate. You may argue that they can call it anything they want because they created it, but just because someone draws a cat doesn't mean they can refer to its ears as paws. People who draw horses should know a horse's anatomy.
