Today, I found out how acidic some of the chemicals I work with are. After a chemical shower, minor burns, and having to throw away my clothes due to a biohazard, I had the pleasure of running across the parking lot to my car, wearing only a lab coat around my waist. FML

Working with chemicals that can cause minor burns, i'm surprised your equipment let some of it get to your skin. I have many questions, such as : what were you showered in ? (the whole biohazard thing lets me think it's also really toxic) Were you actually wearing all the protections it requires ? How did such a thing even happen ? Anyway, i hope you'll be okay OP. Since whatever it was touched you enough to cause minor burns.

What kind of job do/did you have that you weren't aware of such potentially dangerous chemicals?

I'm sorry but ydi. I work in the bio and chem labs at my college and no matter what chemicals or bacteria I am using I ALWAYS work as if I am working with the volatile ones. To prevent just that.

I feel like that's something you should already have known

You deserve it. It is not difficult to research the chemicals you work with and you should always do so. I also wonder how you got the job if you do not know essential things like this.

They're called MSDS sheets, study them before interacting with any unknown chemicals.
