Today, I gave my mother a pre-prepared deposit envelope with my fortnightly wage in it, in cash. I tell her exactly where the deposit box is and what to do. I'm now desperately calling the bank because my mother accidentely put my $1200 deposit in the little trash can for receipts under the ATM. FML

To be fair... I think this comment was made jokingly, sort of like if I said, "YDI for having a mother." I am a big fan of large vocabularies and unusual words. I still wanted to comment the exact same thing - as a joke, because obviously using a big word has nothing to do with her mother throwing away her $1200.

it doesn't say it was cash who cashes there check and then deposits cash is the u.s the only place that has direct deposit i haven't seen a check in over 15 years

Sorry bro you deserve it for giving your cash to someone else to deposit...next time do it yourself. If she was confused about what to do that should've been a red flag not to trust her to deposit the money correctly whether it's your mother or not. That's why they have bank tellers and she could've asked one of them.

Got to agree with #38 and a few others. Why the hell does mommy need to do your banking for you? Does she also fold you clothes and make your bed? Does she pack your lunch every day?
