AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA. Wow, I have wellllllll over 100 friends. That's sad. I'm sorry. Fail.
I'd be willing to bet you have well over 100 people you *think* are your friends.
you COULD have saved money by buying the 25 pack instead of the 100 pack....but it's not that big a deal to have 8 friends for a party! it's nice and intimate and you can have cocktails :]
8 best friends > 100 acquaintances #32-name all of your 100+ friends' middle names, their favorite colors, what they wanted to be when they grew up, what elementary school they went to, their goldfish's name from when they were six, what kind of car they drive, their favorite restaurant, etc. you can't, can you? if i had to choose between my life-long few best friends over 200 people that i barely know, its pretty obvious which is the better choice. you fail; the OP is smart.
#2 - agreed. It's way better to have a small bunch of friends than 100ish acquaintances. If you have 8 true friends, you can be very, VERY happy. And as was mentioned at smallish parties it's easier to keep track of who drives, who can't drive anymore, who is whose ride, who needs to stay over due to not having a ride, it happens less often that people are left without a ride and there is no room for them to stay over...
I agree with #1 & #2 :). Having 8 close friends is a wonderful thing. I don't know about everyone else, but I wouldn't want to have a party with hundreds of people that could honestly careless about me. They probably would just come for the food or something lol. All you need is a few friends in life. I like the idea that there's so few people, it'll be more intimate. There's nothing to feel bad about... at all :).
If I invited all of my friends, I'd have 85 invitations left over, and only half of them would show up because most of them hate at least one other friend that I would presumably invite. Not really a FYL because like everyone else said, 8 close friends>100 acquaintances, and definitely not a YDI.
#32, when you finally reach adulthood and find out that out of all of those "friends" not a single one liked you well enough to stay in touch after school, you'll realize what an epic FAILure you are. To the OP, I agree with most everyone on here. I have 6 great friends that I would want at a party like that for me. Best of luck with your new job/life.
That's ohkay. Rather a party with 8 friends you can trust with your life, than a room of a 100 you wouldn't trust with your backside. Yes. That totally rhymed. Lol. ( :

quality over quantity? I hope :)
8 close friends are better than 100 whatever friends!
