Today, I got a job selling knives. I had training for 11 hours. At the end of the training session, the instructor promptly informed everyone that they had to pay $145 for a set of demo knives. I paid the $145. I went home and learned that it was a scam. I went back for a refund. They said no. FML

Yea, a week ago I went to their so called "interview" wearing a formal attire in a one room rented room with fake trophies and one person doing all the interview process. I threw in the towel right there. And if you google "Vector" about 20 plus things pop up about their scams.

The knives are good, it’s kind of undeniable, but the company is awful to work for. And they recruit heavily, especially on college campuses and online. They’ve been sued by Wisconsin, Arizona, and Australia. And if you think that you'll get recruited by bigger company through Vectors think again, you'll just be denied because of it. Its a scam but a legal scam.

The knives are awful. They're ridiculously expensive and you can get the same quality from any store. You can get a much better knife set for the cost of a vector knife set.

Hmmm. Which is it? dont work to hard, or work really hard? Seems like majority are saying that you need to work hard, or else you dont make the money. Sorry OP, but you should have done your homework. Next time research the company. Both FYL and YDI Continue your valiant fight crasher, there is at least one person that appreciates your continued fight ;) I believe it is a misinformed deal. They dont tell you what you'll be doing, even if you ask. and then they ask for $$$ up front, when they could simply charge it from your paycheck. Dont give me BS of "oh but then they'll just grab the knives and run." Have another salesperson go with and help with the first sale. Bam, made the money, got the knife set, everyone is happy and the company has a better image for its employers. As it is now, its way too hard to make money and way to easy to lose it. I say scam, even if not outright.

It's not a scam, its Cutco, and it sucks balls enough that it kinda seems like a scam. Tough luck dude.

You can make A LOT of money working for Vector, it just requires hard work and a certain personality type. It's not a scam, although it might seem like one. Since the OP obviously needs a job, I suggest actually trying Cutco for the first 2 weeks, you should be able to get your $145 back in the two weeks pretty easily, and then you have some quality knives too. And hey, if you're really good at it, I know people who make 10K over the summer, ain't bad...

Hahahah, Vector. Man, that was a friggin' terrible job. Yeah, you get $14/hr or whatever, but that doesn't include the unpaid training, having to pay for your set of demo knives, and the hour you're going to spend driving to and from the appointment. Gas compensation? Hell no. Not to mention all the time you spend calling people trying to schedule appointments, etc. I will say the knifes aren't bad though. Sharp motherfuckers.

God, I must be even more out of touch with what's going on in the world than I thought. Never heard of this Vector company... Thanks for the warnings, I guess 

so call the authorities and inform them of this scam.

haha, i fell for it partly. I went for the interview, but before the interviewer sat us all down to tell us more about the job, I left. Thank god I got out of there tho, I was surprised I as the first one to get out of there out of like 50+ people.

This is a lesson in itself. Always research a company before letting them rope you in like this. I still say FYL though, Vector sends me letters in the mail every month, but I went online and decided it wasn't worth it. Pay attention next time :)
