Dude I work for that company and it freaking rocks. Your just too much of a lazy ass to do the work yourself. Last week I sold 300 dollars from 4 shows and got 75 bucks for 4 hours of work. My first week I did 7 shows which is 7 to 8 hours and made 274 dollars so I don't know what you are talking about scam but this job is beautiful.

I got a job at Vector two days ago. The company was renting a studio in a run down building in a rundown area of town. I don't think it is really a job. It's a way to scam all the little kids just out of high school. These kids have no idea what a scam looks like. My parents told me it was and from what I have been hearing it def sounds like a scam. Anybody that is saying it isn't either works for Vector and is a scammer or by some miracle actually had this work out for them. There is nothing special about the knifes. It's all a scam.
An Article From The Wall Street Journal OLEAN, N.Y.--(Business Wire)-- With summer jobs and paid internships scarce for college students, one company is offering a unique and valuable work experience, according to a recent story in the Wall Street Journal, titled "Summer Job: Nice Pay, if You Can Cut It." The article profiled Cutco Cutlery, the largest kitchen cutlery manufacturer in North America, and its sales division, Vector Marketing. The 60-year-old company sells products through a national network of college students, who sell through in-home personal demonstrations. According to the article, the company trains approximately 40,000 students a year, providing them with valuable skills that serve them well in future careers. Derek Kernus, a sales rep from Virginia, said, "I've done very well with this job. I've made enough to pay my bills and save for school." The article focused on how this sales training prepares students for other careers. "You're constantly being put in a situation where you have to meet new people everyday," Kernus explained in the article. "It's like practicing a sport. You keep being put in this situation and you learn how to be more social. "You see how much rejection you can take and how you handle it with this type of job," he explains. "It's a skill for life because people aren't going to say yes all the time. You need to try and come back with something different to try and get a yes." The value of this real-world experience is noticed by hiring managers with major companies, according to the article. The article quoted Marie Artim, assistant vice president for recruiting at Enterprise Rent-A-Car: "We've found that the job can give people the things we look for. Things like communication skills, discipline and a work ethic, knowledge of customer service, sales and marketing, and the ability to work on your own." Yeah, I got hired into Vector. I came home and read about it online, and several places said to stay away, and I called them up right away and quit. They've had many lawsuits filed against them for their practices, and they cheated my friend out of her last few paychecks. I don't like how they suck people in. On their fliers and in their letters, they never say exactly what the company is. They advertise concepts that people will be drawn to right away. "$14.25/hour base pay! Flexible hours!" etc. They'll hire anyone. When I went in, they told me that they only had room to hire a few people, but I'd be perfect for the job. However, they never sat down to have a formal interview with just me. It was a room full of people, and then they pulled me into a side room and just gave me a job. It may work for some people, but not everyone. Some people are very successful because of this company, but those people are very few and far between.
From what I've seen, this isn't a scam. However, it DOES depend on what office you work for. The offices in the Northwestern area do NOT make you pay for your sample kit. And this job isn't for everyone. It does take someone who is willing to work hard and for some people that is the kind of job they want! I have seen a lot of people very happy with this job and it isn't a scam! Its a great way to earn some extra cash if you like it. Oh, and just to clear something else up, its NOT door to door sales or telemarketing. If people have been doing that, they shouldn't be, thats not what the company wants. (if you cant tell by now...I've worked at one of these places before.) So anyways... op, I have nooo idea why they wouldn't refund you. That is SUTPID! And its bad management. Call the cops on their ass and get your money back. But it isn't the companys fault...just the lame office you went to. Sorry you had a bad experance!
yeah I went to an interview for vector and didn't know what the hell was going on till the end but it's not an actual scam. my friend works there now and he says it's pretty chill if you just don't try too hard
