Today, I got a job selling knives. I had training for 11 hours. At the end of the training session, the instructor promptly informed everyone that they had to pay $145 for a set of demo knives. I paid the $145. I went home and learned that it was a scam. I went back for a refund. They said no. FML

Dude, I went to the interview but didn't go to all the training. Any company that a) makes you buy the merch b) wants you to 'practice' by selling to your family and friends and asks how long you lived in the area and c) sends young people going into strangers' homes alone with some shitty knives is a SCAM!! A bunch of old dudes at the top are laughing at the schmucks who actually believe Vector will enhance their resumes and make them money. Anything that sounds to good to be true, probably is.

These are clearly lies from someone that get paid by vector to defend public relations. The only people that make money are the ones at the top stealing from poor college students. VECTOR = SCAM

Vector, it is a pyramid scam by definition. only because your manager gets money for everything you sell. and it's a waste of time for people like me in areas that I live in where there's no one around with a full time job. and you only make the base pay if they are a homeowner and have a full time job. which is bullshit. plus commission... but actually its either the base pay or the commission, which is retarded also. I was a receptionist there last summer. my manager was a moron. she gave me all of one week with a half way decent pay. Thumbs down.

Hey Regina. Funny how I work with you. You are probably the biggest moron ever. You are getting your money back....as soon as you send the knives back to the company you get a check in the mail. And for all of you who think Vector is a scam, it's not. I work for one of the highest grossing offices in Jersey. If it was such a scam, would it be around for over 25 years? If it was such a scam, why would Wall Street Journal and Offshore Magazine right about us? You guys are dumb. You are just worried about what others will think about you when you tell them what you do. It's a shame you guys can't think for yourselves.

I just got a job there a couple weeks ago. I did not think i would be very successful because i don't know a ton of people but i'm doing really well actually. my last paycheck was for $600 bucks. it does get frustrating because you're working with PEOPLE which is a much needed skill. I've dealt with the meanest people because of this job yet i still like it. You have to pay for your set because what company would ******* give out stuff like that for free to a sales rep. They could quit the job and keep the knives. You can get your money back if you give the knives back after you're done with the job. It's just a security deposit. I did my research when i heard about this job. I heard a lot of shady things about the company but i quickly realized that the people that did not succeed in this business were the ones talking shit about it. So stop smack talking vector because of some stupid shit that google says.

I don't understand why so many people are calling this a scam, I've had the job for almost a month now, I work for about 10 hours a week, and have earned over 700 dollars so far. Yes, I live in a rich neighborhood where people can afford the knives, but's not a scam. If you sell knives, you get commission. These knives were featured on "made in america" and "how it's made" and "modern marvels." They are rated as one of the sharpest knives out of package, and stay sharper then any other knife. I have cashed or deposited the checks, they are in my back account, no scam. Vector is the marketing firm for cutco. Everyone here calling it a scam is an idiot.

i worked for vector for like a month. it wasn't my kinda job. i just hated the idea of calling my friends and family and begging for their time. it's not a scam. i made great money doing it and was one of the top sellers in my region for a month, but didn't want to keep putting the phone time into it. i sold at least 3 knives on EVERY SINGLE appointment i had in that month except one. people buy the knives because they're a good product. i kept my sample kit (they give you the option of returning them for full refund, or keeping them.) people like dragon (post 283) are ridiculous. it's not a scam, but it's certainly not for lazy people.

i agree with officerpat. i worked hard for a month and got paid. a lot. but it suckedddddd. and that's why i don't do it anymore. if you're willing to sacrifice your personal time for the job, be my guest. that just wasn't something i was into. you will be rewarded for your hard work though.

this same thing almost happened to me. luckily they didn't call me back to hire me though. :)
