She technically wasn't wrong, that's big news
Nothing wrong with starting at community college to get your AS or AA.
Much cheaper too!
I saved about 15K just going to a community college first then transfering
At least it's all done at once?... Not getting asked how you got on and having to explain you got rejected to everyone one by one. Better luck next year man
Well OP, that is some bad news. Sorry you had to open that in front of your whole family. Keep your head up and you will find a college that is right for you! everything happens for a reason.
Tough shit, but it just opens the door for bigger and better things! Keep your chin up and persevere.
How did your family react?
Please keep in mind: You have options for college. For example, go to community college for two years. You could either transfer out to continue your education or put your associate's degree to work. Also, if you are a dedicated student but not so great at standardized testing (like the SAT), there are schools that don't require you to submit standardized test scores. Look up FairTest.
hopefully that big family huddle gave you a big hug!
Education in the US sucks! In my country as long as you have a high school diploma you can join any university you want. No one cares how well you did in high school. Some universities might ask you to take a rather simple exam but those are only for the "elitist" degrees like medicine or engineering. When I signed up for college I just filled an online form, send them a scan of my high school diploma and my ID card. A few days later they send me a confirmation email, I paid 800 euros and it was done. The education we receive is as good as everywhere else. We just like to give everyone a second chance. Just because you were stupid in HS doesn't mean you have to waste your whole life. USA is a cruel place.
Are you kidding me? Germany is a LOT harder to get into a university than the US.
Well, I don't live in Germany.

If the rejection letter comes in a big envelope, I'd hate to see how the acceptance letter arrives. Maybe an owl delivers it?
Wow that's tough. Keep your head up!
