So many points to make, so little time... Firstly, what on earth are all the comments about not showing arms and legs at the same time about?! One person went as far to say it was a fashion no-no...one thing that is clear about the vast majority of people that have commented on here (and sadly, the '*****' in question) is that they have absolutely no clue about fashion!! What if I were to walk down the street in a shift dress and heeled courts...? For those that don't know, a shift dress is a dress of various length, most likely to hit the knee or be a mini, with no sleeves, but that has a very very high (normally) rounded neckline. Would I be mistaken for a ***** then? I find the people of the 'arms and legs' comments truly bewildering. It's 'legs or cleavage'. That is the rule. Legs or arms?! Either you are not westernised, see sexuality in the flash of an ankle and thus 4 whole limbs is just outrageously promiscuous, are some sort of Evangelical American (not meaning to generalise, but they do not exist in maaaass numbers in many other countries, Brazil being the only exception I can think of) that feels that by showing off 4 WHOLE LIMBS you are disrespecting yourself and thus God, or, most likely, you're just idiots. The outfit sounds tragic, but not because she looks like a hooker. It sounds like exactly the kind of thing you do growing up when you're trying to find your style. I've been wearing heels since I was twelve, and always went shopping in them. It's rather normal if you live in western society. The problem isn't wearing heels to the 'mall', it is how the outfit is put together. It sounds awful, but again, completely natural experimental fashion. We don't know how old the girl is. She could be a young teenager trying new looks, or an older woman who, for some reason or another, has never been interested in fashion before and is trying new looks. She could have been a tomboy, lost a lot of weight and now can try new styles, suddenly had more money to buy clothes...there are many possibilities. The only thing that could be slagged off is her style, and not that she was exposing too much flesh! Coincidentally, what is it about American fashion? Either they all dress very well (The OC, Gossip Girl), or simply terribly, mysteriously including a lot of spandex, ill-fitting jeans, and combat trousers. Hopefully the arrival of Topshop will rectify this situation.
