lol the card should have gone like this "roses are red your undies are too because you probably weren't wearing a pad when aunt flo came to visit you" its a work in progress. and to the douche (haha pun intended) who said YDI for being a girl, well how would u like it if your mom bought a card for you because you jizzed in your sleep?
Hahahaha. Nice.
ahahahaha that's great! somebody needs to get him that card!
haha PERIOD STORY TIME!!!! The day I got mine (first one) it was the day of my neighborhood's block party. Because my mom LOVES socializing during this event, I decided to refrain from telling her. I made a good judgement about not telling her until AFTER the block party was over, because apparently all of the neighborhood wives with teenage daughters even brought up that topic of conversation and at that point, my mom would have boasted that fact. and when I told her I got it, and she told me about that conversation and how she had to say that I hadn't gotten mine yet, I told her that was less embarrassing than her OTHER potential reaction of 'OH MY GOSH you won't believe that my daughter got her first period TODAY!!!! Isn't that exciting?!!??' then like the whole block party would stop and have a toast because my mom would insist on it. XD
hahah you're lucky your mom didnt tell your neighbours, when i got mine and told my mom, my mother called all of our family friends and told them .
Bajeez... when I got mine, my mother didn't advertise it to the world... Nor my father, for that matter lol At least, I hope they didn't. It was damned embarassing. That is my right to tell, not theirs. It makes for an amusing story, but I want to be the one saying it. I hate it when mom blabbers on and on about stuff like that, especially since she twists the stories so much... It's MY life, I'll tell it if I want it told!
lol yeah i know it didnt make much sense, it was actually directed toward someone else, consider it a Freudian slip lol my bad my bad its still a cognitive bias though for anyone to say that these events arent important, however in certain societies (middle eastern actually) u are not considered a woman if u can not reproduce however in a complete 180 in afghanistan there are certain tribes that force marry their women so young that it is not uncommon to see a bride holding her toys/dolls during the ceremony, so i guess the idea of a woman depending on where u are can range from 5 to 18 lol society is to blame for a lot though, especially considering how we would view the op getting her period and being celebrated as "gross and awkward" when others can consider it as passage and well-being it had nothing to do with ur comments, but its food for thought to those who are one sided :P
god damn it i hate firefox
Yeah, I realize some cultures ARE like that. I know I shouldn't judge other cultures.... but it actually makes me really, really sad. Maybe because I'm a girl. [edit] Oh, it's not just you with the problem of redirected replies. I use IE and it does the same damn thing. FML is just really buggy, it seems.
it makes us sad i agree, but imagine if u did live in that culture, would u feel sad that the women are treated so terribly, or would u feel sad that others do not follow the same customs because u are raised like that? its scary, in those same tribes the girls are raised to understand that they are a burden upon working men and are used only to slave in the house, take care of the children, and satisfy the men. there is also the practice where a young girl is dressed down in very custom clothes and jewelry, put on a horse, and ridden to where her suitor lives, in which case she can not be returned to her family because she is now considered "property". its sad that so many take so much for granted, but its also sad that many of those girls live by those customs and may never know the idea of freedom or equality. but then again, can u describe color to someone thats colorblind?
That's not even funny. Who cares
woops
Happy womanhood to you, happy womanhood to you You better not get preggers Happy womanhood to you
He could have gone about it a better (or simply more discretely) but clearly he meant well. Keep the card, someday you will find the incident either hilarious, endearing or both.
Did you know in one culture when a girl gets her period, her parents sew shut her private area to ensure that she keeps her virginity and doesn't conceive a child until marriage, except for a really small hole to let blood drain through when she is on her period? And that this often results in an infection from not being able to properly clean herself? That sounds a little bit worse to me, personally, than getting a card congratulating you.
awesome....:-)
Ahaha. That's okay, my dad bought my older sister ice cream and gave her whatever she wanted because he was so friggin confused =P Dads are awesome like that.
