Today, I got pulled over for speeding and got a $200 ticket. After I pulled away, I decided to warn the next car about the cop up ahead by flashing my headlights. The next car was another cop. He didn't appreciate my "help". FML

Haha that sucks. It was a nice deed, too bad you didn't notice it was a cop. Did he give you another ticket? I don't know if there's anything illegal about that.

Wow there sure are a lot of people on their high horse here. Get over it, s/he was trying to help out another driver. Lots do it, and most appreciate it. I love how people here act as if they are the epitome of perfection and can do no wrong. "omg u flashed ur brites. ur a bad persun. ttly ydi!!!1" Get over yourselves. Why do people always feel the need to bash on OPs? They're sharing their misfortune to brighten our days.

you are dumber than the rocks at the bottom of the ocean

that's what you get for trying to be a good citizen.... idiot.

#30 Hm, I guess you're right. I'm from Nebraska, so I guess it's safe to assume this person isn't from the US.

Lesson learned. Dont help anyone ever again.

People DO do this in the US, 33. I have seen it before where I come from (Illinois). Anyway, bad move. I never flash my beams for people. If they're speeding fast enough, I say they deserve the ticket for law breaking. Besides, their speeding is not my problem.

op: You should have told the 2nd cop that you were flashing your lights to warn him/her of the (insert name of large animal here) that was darting across the road. You were obviously just trying to prevent an accident...

why would you help him? think he will pay the ticket in your place? YDI

Yeah, fail :( Pretty sure it's illegal in NYS, but I do it anyway :P There was one case where a cop flashed his lights (when I did that), but I guess he was feeling lazy that day and didn't bother going after me. "Speeding" while illegal is a complete bullshit law. When I have to go across 3 states to get to some of my college friends' places driving 65mph is not an option unless I want to waste another hour taking a nap at some rest stop. They should make at least the interstate highways (like I-90 in NY) @ 100mph or so - that would easily save you an hour or two traveling even from NYC to Buffalo (cross-state). Those who say "YDI for breaking the law": do you follow every law like goons? Do you ever stop to question the validity of the said law? Is J-walking breaking the law? Have you never J-walked? Come on, get real

YDI, why would randomly annoying someone by flashing your lights at them be a good idea?
