As long as you flashed from hi-low beams, you're perfectly within your rights. Now, quickly switching them on/off is illegal. It's a common practice- I see/do it all the time. Although, it's usually best to ID the approaching vehicle first as it is borderline illegal to drive with your highbeams on in certain areas. Hey- give us cops a break. We're just doin our jobs too.
I do this too, so I feel bad for you... you were just trying to help others. Just make sure you're almost 100% sure it isn't a cop... it's harder now, lots of cops have cars without lights on the tops. Oh - and 12 is a dumbass. Read and get context, fool.
"ydi for speeding" Speeding laws on interstate highways are merely sources of revenue for po-lice. Get off your high horses and stop blindly supporting the pigs. I appreciate you warning your fellow honest citizens that cops are down the highway, looking to rob them in any way posssible. Also, fight the second ticket, you can definatly get out of it as they can't prove you were trying to warn anyone.
Knowing the law in your country is necessary for f-ing copz da pigz. For example, in my country it is possible to say something like "I flashed my headlights to warn the other car about some animal, dangerously running across the road. But the animal got scared and ran away, unseen by anyone else." And they can't prove anything.
There's no law against flashing your headlights whenever the hell you want. Also, I don't know where you guys live, but here, if you flash your highbeams (at least at a red light), it means you want to race.
I cant believe you didnt just tell him it was an accident and meant to put on your blinkers. FYL Still, keep warning! Its a team effort.
I've never heard of flashing your lights to warn people of cops. If someone flashes their lights at me I assume I accidentally turned on my high beams or they accidentally hit theirs or they're being an asshole. I wouldn't think "oh there must be a speed trap over there, thank you kind citizen". Where I'm from though it isn't illegal to flash your lights either. So FYL but YSDI (you sorta deserve it).
Im from CA and ive seen this a bunch. I live right by the beach, and there is this one street where cops always hide. Last summer when i took that street everyday to go to work, several times i had cars flash their lights at me. Everytime i slowed down, went around the turn, and sure enough there was a cop hiding in the bushes. I really appreciated it and now do it to help other people too. Sorry OP

Haha that sucks. It was a nice deed, too bad you didn't notice it was a cop. Did he give you another ticket? I don't know if there's anything illegal about that.
Wow there sure are a lot of people on their high horse here. Get over it, s/he was trying to help out another driver. Lots do it, and most appreciate it. I love how people here act as if they are the epitome of perfection and can do no wrong. "omg u flashed ur brites. ur a bad persun. ttly ydi!!!1" Get over yourselves. Why do people always feel the need to bash on OPs? They're sharing their misfortune to brighten our days.
